@DIABETESHEALTHS

Welcome,
this is my experience of living with and fighting type 2 diabetes
for 40 years. What I learned, How I manage without Insulin and Hope to find a cure one day.

The prevalence of diabetes varies widely around the world, influenced by factors such as age, genetics, lifestyle, and socioeconomic conditions. Here are some general insights into the prevalence of diabetes globally:

Global Prevalence: According to the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), approximately 463 million adults (20-79 years) were living with diabetes in 2019, and this number is expected to rise to 700 million by 2045. The global prevalence of diabetes is estimated to be around 9.3% of the adult population.

Regional Variations: North America and the Caribbean: This region has one of the highest prevalence rates of diabetes. For example, in the United States, about 10.5% of the population has diabetes.
Europe: The prevalence of diabetes is also high, with around 59 million people living with diabetes in 2019. The prevalence varies by country, with some countries like Germany and Portugal having higher rates.
Middle East and North Africa: This region has one of the highest prevalence rates of diabetes, partly due to high rates of obesity and sedentary lifestyles.
South-East Asia: India has one of the largest numbers of people with diabetes, with millions of cases reported.
Western Pacific: China has the highest number of people with diabetes in the world, contributing significantly to the regional prevalence.

Factors Influencing Prevalence: Age: The prevalence of diabetes increases with age. It is more common in older adults, particularly those over 45 years of age.
Urbanization: Urban areas tend to have higher prevalence rates of diabetes compared to rural areas, likely due to lifestyle factors such as reduced physical activity and dietary changes.
Socioeconomic Status: Lower socioeconomic status is often associated with higher prevalence of diabetes, due to factors like limited access to healthcare, healthy foods, and opportunities for physical activity.
Trends: The prevalence of diabetes is increasing globally, driven by rising rates of obesity, unhealthy diets, physical inactivity, and aging populations. Developing countries are experiencing a rapid increase in diabetes prevalence as they undergo economic and lifestyle changes. Effective management and prevention strategies, including public health initiatives, early diagnosis, lifestyle interventions, and access to medical care, are crucial in addressing the growing burden of diabetes worldwide.
